Moving from 2D to 3D security scanning is creating a more seamless airport experience

With the transition to this new scanning technology underway, our Managing Director Paul Mason discusses how the implementation of CT scanners will provide opportunities for airports and how we’re supporting them in an ACI Insight blog.

CT scanners can produce highly detailed 3D images of the contents of carry-on bags. This means screeners can differentiate between safe and prohibited items more easily and reduce the number of false alarms raised. In the UK, the government has given airports a deadline of June 2024 to install and train their staff on the much more advanced technology of CT scanners. We’re supporting major airports across the UK to ensure a smooth transition through our Threat Image Recognition Training (TIRT) to security screeners.
